The Novel
I’m in the middle of my next chapter as a Pilates Instructor and Adjunct Professor of Communication at DePaul University but there’s one book I’m struggling to close, probably because it’s never been opened, my novel—I’ve spent more than two years writing a novel I based off some personal experiences as a reporter and several cold cases/missing persons cases I’ve covered. I poured my heart and soul into it, as well as some of my savings, but the manuscript is still dusty.

Fiction Born From Cold Cases
Courtney King’s forthcoming novel follows Delia Daniels, a TV news reporter desperate to escape her abusive boyfriend. She is murdered when he throws her into the Ohio River—only for her to wake up fully conscious underwater, no longer needing to breathe. Trapped in a strange, riverbound purgatory, she begins to find the bodies from the missing persons cases she once reported on. One by one, Delia uncovers what really happened to them and fights to bring each victim to the surface so they can finally be found. But what will happen to Delia? Is she stuck in the river?
